Nina & Patrick

With being no strangers of traveling the world, the idea of a destination wedding was exciting and appealing for Nina and Patrick. But just not any international wedding--a Costa Rican wedding. Nina, as a Costa Rican citizen, has lifelong family ties to the country and she and her fiancé really wanted their family and friends to experience the beauty of Costa Rica. Can you imagine being on a stunning beach in Costa Rica, surrounded by the people you love the most and getting married to your soulmate!? We felt so proud that we were there to capture their beautiful Destination Wedding Story!!

We truly think that this is one of those relationships that was just meant to be – BOTH their parents shared the same wedding date, thirty-one years ago! And that’s not the only coincidence and reason why we think they were meant to be together - Patrick and Nina both went to the same small College in the States, but it wasn’t until the following year that they met – 3,466 miles from campus, in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, where they both had decided to study for an entire year. The friendship they made on the island grew bigger into something called love and August 10, 2019, was the day when Nina and Patrick became Mr. & Mrs. in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

Before the Wedding ceremony, Nina had the sweetest getting ready session at Hotel Sugar Beach, which was captured by us; Destination Wedding Stories, and our amazing team photographer Sylvia Guardia Photography.

The pre-wedding Photography- and Videography session was followed by a shuttle ride to the ceremony site; the church Iglesia de Santa María in Tamarindo. The bride and groom exchanged vows in the company of their nearest and dearest families and friends. Nina loved being able to say her vows in Spanish, as it was really special for her family to be able to understand and follow along.

After the Ceremony, the newlywed couple and their guests made their way to the wedding venue Las Catalinas; a gorgeous Costa Rican model of medieval European hill town. It’s the cutest car-free little beach town you can imagine!!

Nina and Patrick’s Wedding planner Maria Eugenia Roldan, from Lat10, was able to create an unforgettable destination wedding experience for the wedding couple and their 130 guests. She pulled all the pretty details together for a minimalist, nevertheless elegant vibe, with a soft and neutral color palette for the dinner tables. The wedding invitations, seating cards and programs all incorporated an ocean blue tone and went well with the designs as well as the bridesmaids dresses and groomsmen ties, which had sunset colors.

Nina and Patrick’s wedding was as energetic and joyful as it was genuine and emotional. It was an amazingly fun Wedding; the energy was kept high throughout the day and the Wedding guests danced the night away to DJ Ciro’s uplifting music. The open-air reception under the trees and the stars made the Wedding day extra special.

The guests had tears in their eyes when Nina and Patrick danced the First Dance to “What a wonderful world”. We don’t blame them, we almost shed some tears ourselves - It was so beautiful and sincere and we could feel the deep love between them. Nina was seriously glowing and without a doubt she left everyone stunned with her beauty and positive vibes.

A beachfront wedding is the ultimate dream of many brides and Nina and Patrick’s wedding day was magical from start to finish. From the amazing pink and purple sunset to the dinner by the beach and dancing under a tent covered in romantic lights, we would describe the entire day as perfect.
